For those who have been waiting since I posted that little teaser post on Ascenta Skin…
I attended a conference here in Vancouver from a beautiful high rise building hosted by the creator and founder of the product/brand. He was very knowledgeable and really broke down the science of the product and how it functions within the body and for the skin. We were given a full bottle of the liquid supplement to try for ourselves.
The dosage they recommended was 1 teaspoon a day. I tried the 1 teaspoon a day for about 2 weeks. The first week my skin started to glow and my boyfriend was giving me compliments on how good my skin looked without being prompted. The second week however, my skin started to get worse; what most estheticians in the industry would say is the “purging” period. I personally have never agreed with this term as something for the greater good of your skin. Usually when your skin “purges” it’s getting rid of toxins in the body. I’ll save that discussion for another post.
Me personally, the recommended dosage was too much. I found it works best for me when I take 1 teaspoon every 3 days. The taste of the product is a little on the fishy side but bearable. I took a sip of orange juice right after and the taste went away. The taste became normal after several times of taking it to the point where it no longer bothered me.
What I noticed: My skin looked more hydrated and had a glow I’ve never had before, my under eye dark circles became less visible, my skin was also soft to the touch.
Below are some no-make-up selfies. These pictures were taken in the same room under the same lighting after waking up first thing in the morning. I did not wash my face nor did I touch up my skin in anyway before I took these pictures.
Start of the first week:
Of course lifestyle also plays a part in how your skin looks and feels as your skin is a reflection of you and what’s going on with you. I do not live completely stress free and I do believe that is a reason for me getting break outs now and then. I do however do yoga where I can obtain that yoga glow, I eat healthy by incorporating lots of greens and fruits, I stay away form alcohol and currently trying to wean myself off of caffeine. I do find that after drinking a cup of coffee, throughout the day my skin tells me that was not a good idea.
My best advice is to listen to your body and what your body needs. Just like with the Ascenta skin, recommended dosage is for the average individual tested, always keep in mind that you are unique and your body and its needs are also going to be unique. What might work for one person might not work for another.
My thoughts: I do plan on continuing to take the supplement Ascenta Skin. There are many great benefits other then just that dewy look to the skin. It aides in balancing out the oil production of the skin which in turn helps to maintain a healthy retention of hydration within the skin which in turn helps with anti-aging. It also helps to create a natural UV defense system within the skin; the skin is better able to produce melanin which is the bodies natural way of defending itself from the harsh rays of the sun. On a plus side it is also Canadian made and health Canada approved. Go check it out and educate yourself.
